Breaking News: President Tinubu Begins Moves to Remove Ganduje as APC Chairman, Plans to Replace Him with Tanko Al-Makura
According to Vanguard newspaper, as preparations for the 2027 presidential elections intensify, reports have emerged indicating that President Bola Tinubu’s camp is making moves to prevent top members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly those from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), from defecting to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
A leaked statement reveals that President Tinubu is considering appointing former Nasarawa State governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura—an ally of former President Muhammadu Buhari—as a strategy to keep the CPC faction loyal and committed to the APC.
Reports suggest that Al-Makura is being offered the position of APC National Chairman as a way to win over Buhari and unite his supporters under the ruling party.
Sources indicate that Al-Makura is expected to hold a press conference on Monday, during which he is likely to announce Buhari’s alleged support for remaining within the APC.
This development comes amid growing concerns within the ruling party, as several influential politicians—including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and former Imo State Governor Achike Udenwa—are said to be exploring alternative political strategies ahead of 2027 due to dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s leadership.
The leaked document further exposed internal instability within the APC, raising serious questions about the party's unity and future ahead of the upcoming elections.
