Professor Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari was born on September 15, 1976, in the city of Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. He began his primary education in Katsina State in 1987, where he memorized the Holy Qur’an at the age of 13 to 14 at Madarasatul Faidatul Islamiyya, located at Sheikh Yahuza’s residence in Zaria.
After completing his primary education, he continued to secondary school at Jama'atu Arabic Studies College in Zaria, Kaduna State. He then proceeded to Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, where he completed his first degree in 1999. He obtained his Master’s degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2005, and earned his PhD from Bayero University, Kano, in 2009.
Professor Maqari began his teaching career at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1999. Later, he taught at Kaduna State University as a senior lecturer in 2010 before moving to Bayero University, Kano, where he became a professor in the Department of Arabic and Languages. In 2012, he was appointed Deputy Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja.
In addition to his academic work, Professor Maqari founded the Tazkiyyah Educational Resource Center in Abuja, along with nearly 30 Qur'anic and Islamic schools across Nigeria.
