Senators and Former Ministers of Buhari are Preparing to Leave APC for SDP

         There are strong indications that some former ministers of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari will completely move to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

        A senator from the ninth National Assembly, who spoke with PUNCH newspaper on Saturday on condition of anonymity, said at least 10 former members of Buhari's administration are set to join the SDP.

          "What they are waiting for is the completion of the party's structure in their respective states," the source said.

         Our correspondents gathered that some of the top loyalists of President Buhari who are set to defect include the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu; former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; and former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

El-Rufai Takes the First Step

             One of Buhari’s loyalists and former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday, defected to the SDP. He cited the current direction of the APC as the primary reason for his decision to leave the party.
